Social media blitz.
With Battlefield 5’s world premiere coming later today, you’d think its employees might be showing a few nerves. Not so – DICE-associated accounts are having a lot of fun on social media this morning.
The Battlefield Twitter account yesterday revealed a miniature teaser of “game-engine footage”. It consciously doesn’t reveal anything much about the setting of the game, although some are suggesting the character’s clothes point to the rumoured World War 1 setting.
Speaking of that setting speculation, ex-DICE develoepr Ben Cousins has excited some by suggesting some “random reading” on Codename Eagle, a WW1-set shooter made by the team that would go on to merge with DICE and create Battlefield 1942:
Predictably, the official Battlefield channels are not letting on what we could be seeing later, going so far as to make jokes at their excitable fans’ expense:

And then, of course, there’s that rivalry to address. With Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare now officially announced, DICE Senior Video & Media Director, Randy Evans made a little reference to Call of Duty’s notably odd choice to tease a new game with a poop emoji and the suggestion of soiling oneself.
